Dogdance Tournament

Dogdance in Karlsruhe: When dogs and humans dance together.

A major dogdance tournament is taking place in Karlsruhe for the third time.

Around 120 human-dog teams are expected to show over two days just how versatile and creative dog sports can be.

In dogdance, humans and dogs work together to create a choreography set to music. Tricks, movements, and footwork are combined to tell a story or fit a musical theme. Teams are judged not only on technical execution but also on teamwork, expression, musicality, and choreography.

The Fun Classes and Heelwork to Music (HTM) are on the program for Saturday. Sunday features the Fun Classes and Freestyle. The difference between the two official dogdance categories lies primarily in the design of the choreography:

In Freestyle, teams can choose freely from various tricks, movements, and foot positions.

In Heelwork to Music, on the other hand, the focus is on close cooperation and precise footwork—at least 75 percent of the choreography consists of defined heel positions.

In addition to the athletic performance, dogdance is above all one thing: shared fun for humans and dogs. It is exactly this mix of sport, creativity, and the special bond between dog and human that makes this sport so appealing.

The organizers are looking forward to numerous participants from the region and beyond, as well as many interested spectators. Whether from Leipzig, Munich, or Chiemsee—whether a solo start, quartet, or the highlight of a group performance, no wish is left unfulfilled. Even those who don’t have a dog themselves can experience exciting, funny, and impressive choreographies at the dogdance event.
